Curriculum Choices 2011-2012

This is our fourth year to homeschool.  It is now our third consecutive year and also our third consecutive year using My Father's World.  If I had gone with my gut and used MFW to begin with I may never have sent my son to public school after his Kindergarten year.  We all love MFW!!

I have a very bright but dyslexic 10 year old son moving into the 5th grade and an equally bright but possibly dyslexic 7 year old daughter moving into the 2nd grade.

Our curriculum choices for this 2011-2012 school year look like this:

BIBLE/HISTORY, VOCABULARY, MUSIC, ART, READ-ALOUDS:

My Father's World Creation to the Greeks Deluxe Package (CTG)
This package can be viewed in its entirety here:
http://www.mfwbooks.com/products/M50/40/15/0/1
(I have opted to use a different science this year with the exception of Dinosaurs of Eden and Pyramids.  (See below for my main science choice.)

SCIENCE:

Apologia Exploring Creation with Zoology 3 - Land Animals of the Sixth Day (Zoo 3)
https://apologia.securesites.net/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_64&products_id=104
(This book is cheaper through other sources such as christianbook.com but free printable notebook pages are available here in addition to other information that may be helpful.)

Apologia Land Animals of the Sixth Day Lapbooks from A Journey Through Learning
http://www.currclick.com/product_info.php?products_id=43175&it=1

(We will begin Zoo 3 the seventh week of the school year and will complete one lesson every two weeks.)

We will actually begin with the first lesson only from Apologia Exploring Creation with Zoology 1 - Flying Creatures of the Fifth Day. (Zoo 1)  We will spread this lesson out over the first three weeks.

This lesson is available as their sample module on the Apologia web site here:  https://apologia.securesites.net/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_62&products_id=4  (Click on sample module)

We will then continue with the science as scheduled in the My Father's World Creation to the Greeks Teacher's Manual, Pyramids, from weeks 4 to 6.

So our science will look like this:

Weeks 1-3:  Zoo 1 Lesson 1 (penciled into the CTG TM) and Dinosaurs of Eden (as scheduled)
Weeks 4-6:  Pyramids (as scheduled)
Weeks 7-34:  Zoo 3 Including Zoo 3 Lapbooks (penciled in)

This is the first time I am using something other than the suggested science from MFW.  I hope it all works out.

LANGUAGE ARTS:
